We asked Louise Bramley-Ward of York wedding venue The Parsonage Hotel & Spa what factors couples should consider when looking for their wedding venue in Yorkshire...

The first step is to decide your priorities and what you want from your venue. Many couples like the convenience of having the ceremony, meal, evening reception and accommodation in one place. If this is you, then a hotel is probably the best option.

Next, think about the days around your wedding. Would you like to be able to stay in luxury with your girl gang the night before, after a spa treatment and a gorgeous dinner? We find brides are so much more relaxed when they've stayed at the venue the night before and simply have to walk downstairs to get married – bliss!

Trust your gut feeling and go with it. If you love a setting as soon as you walk in, whether it's the first or the 100th you've viewed, book it!
