Morgan and Jacob met at college and started out as friends. “We always liked each other, but graduating and taking jobs took us away from one another,” Morgan explains. “But one day, the universe brought us back together and we've been inseparable ever since.”

Jacob proposed in July 2023. The couple hiked up to Lawn Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park and on reaching the top Jacob popped the question. They had a trip planned for the following month too, so Morgan suspected the proposal would come then, so to have it happen earlier made it a complete surprise for her.

The U.S. based pair visited Bolton Castle back in 2022 as tourists before they were engaged and fell in love with the setting of the Yorkshire Dales. Jacob was born in Yorkshire and was so excited to show Morgan around. So, when she said “yes” they remembered how beautiful the Castle was and were excited for their friends and family to see it. They decided on a glorious UK wedding in Jacob's home county and set the date for July 2024.

We asked Rotherham boutique owner Paula from Wedding Vows for her favourite gown in store at the moment...

"I'd say our favourite gown at the moment is Kaoria by Veni Infantino for Ronald Joyce," she says. "It's a beautiful coloured floral design, available in full length or tea length, along with a matching full cathedral-length veil and an overskirt to turn it into an even bigger ball gown. It's just phenomenal. It's one of the best-selling designs of the last two seasons and we can see why. We've also had one of our suppliers create a matching headpiece with the pearls and crystals added in to match the colours on the dress.

Vicky Endersby from Wonderland Blooms (www.wonderlandblooms.uk) says: In 2025, UK wedding floral trends are set to embrace a blend of timeless elegance and modern creativity. One of the most notable trends is the return to seasonal and locally-sourced blooms. Couples are increasingly prioritising sustainability, opting for flowers that are in season to reduce the environmental impact. Expect to see an abundance of garden roses, dahlias, and wildflowers that bring a natural and organic feel to wedding arrangements.

Dried flowers will continue to be popular, either mixed with fresh blooms or used as standalone arrangements, lending a rustic, bohemian touch to wedding decor. Pampas grass, dried lavender, and preserved eucalyptus add texture and a vintage flair, perfect for couples looking for an unusual twist.

Finally, expect to see a rise in immersive floral experiences. Couples are moving beyond simple bouquets and centrepieces to include dramatic floral arches, hanging installations, and flower walls. These eye-catching arrangements serve as memorable backdrops for ceremonies and receptions, making the floral design a focal point of the wedding.

Sisters Asher and Ellis got engaged at a similar time, so Asher and fiancé Mike waited for Ellis and John to confirm their date first, allowing them to tie the knot within the following month or two. When away on a weekend away together as a group, the topic of a double wedding came up as a joke. “We were quite a few drinks deep at this point, so we can't remember who exactly suggested it,” Asher laughs. Fast forward a few months, when all three sisters and their other halves were on another weekend away in Mallorca, and the joke idea of a double wedding came up again. This time they all gave it some serious thought and a plan started to form. “We all agreed we'd like to do it and the planning began,” Asher shares.

Asher and Ellis have always been very close and share lots of friends, and of course, family members. Attending both weddings would have been practically identical for the guests! “It just made sense for us to join forces,” Asher explains, “have one big wedding instead of separate celebrations.” The four were excited about the prospect of getting married together and it worked for each for different reasons. “The boys were both keen to share the limelight, and the cost... let's face it, weddings are expensive!” Asher says. Indeed, both husbands-to be were involved in conversations about a double wedding from the start and were equally excited we're told. The idea of less pressure on the day certainly appealed. Not to mention, when taking a pragmatic and logical approach, as the gents did, when they looked at the joint guest list and the amazing wedding they could have by joining forces, it all made sense and fell into place. “The grooms also got off lightly when it came to the planning,” Asher says. “We had it under control and only consulted them once we had researched everything and wanted a final sign off!”

Chelsea and James met back in 2013 at the pub. James played for the local football team and Chelsea had gone along with her mum who played for the darts team. “I'd noticed James, and could appreciate that he was a good looking boy, but as he'd just finished playing football he was sweaty, still in his kit and had flip flops on,” Chelsea says. “It definitely wasn't love at first sight!” It was Chelsea's mum's friend who commented they'd look good together and asked for her phone number to give to James. Happily, once they started talking, they realised how similar they were and found plenty in common. “We have the same sense of humour, same values and are equally as sarcastic as each other,” Chelsea shares. They started dating around six months later and the rest is history... well, almost!

James proposed on Westminster Bridge in 2022. Chelsea had taken him to London as a surprise for his birthday, so James in turn decided to surprise her by popping the question. Chelsea admits though that she had been expecting it. They'd been together nearly eight years by this point, so she'd been hoping and praying it would happen soon! “It was the world's fastest proposal,” Chelsea laughs. “He didn't even put the ring on, he put it in my coat pocket and was far too concerned about getting back up off of one knee before anyone saw him! It wasn't romantic in the slightest, but that's just James in a nutshell, anyone will tell you. It was perfect for me though. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.”

The couple were set be wed on 8th August 2024 at Christ Church Brampton Bierlow and set out to find a reception venue nearby. “Rotherham was the perfect location,” Chelsea says. She went to view Hellaby Hall Hotel on a showcase day and knew straight away it was the one. “I could just imagine me, James and all our family and friends there,” she continues. “I loved its rustic charm and everyone was so nice and helpful, plus the grounds are beautiful. I was sold!”

Emily and Charlie met in 2013 when they both attended the same school in Derbyshire. They've been together ever since and, says Emily, “Charlie has always been the funniest person in the room. He's also extremely kind and caring.” It was all of these traits that attracted her to him.

Charlie proposed on their ninth anniversary, while the couple were walking their Labrador, Dennis, at Curbar Edge in the Peak District. When they arrived at the top on this chilly but beautiful sunny day, with no one else around, Charlie popped the question.

Although the couple went to look at several venues they kept coming back to the idea of hosting their big day on Charlie's family farm in East Yorkshire. “It meant we could have a blank canvas to work with and we'd be able to make the day exactly how we wanted it,” Emily explains. “It's a special place for Charlie and me. He's grown up on the farm and I've been welcome there since being with him. We both adore going up there and helping out whenever possible. The views are unrivalled.”

So, with the date set for 13th July 2024, planning got underway. To find out more, download the Jan/Feb25 issue of Your Yorkshire Wedding free at www.youryorkshire.wedding/free-download
