Are You Moisturising Correctly?

Are You Moisturising Correctly?: Image 1

Moisturising is a fundamental step in every skincare routine...but are you getting it right?

Jane Scrivner says: "The role of a moisturiser is to retain skin hydration by working to protect and prevent water escaping out of the skin - known as Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL). Moisturisers are crucial for healthy skin but they should be used alongside 'hydrators' - products that attract water into the skin, like a facial oil or hyaluronic acid serum. Without properly hydrating the skin, applying a moisturiser is like putting a lid on a pan without any water inside. Your moisturiser should be the last step in your skincare routine - they are occlusive (in a good way!) so are able to form a protective seal on the surface of the skin, locking in the nutrients from your skincare and preventing accelerated skin dehydration.

"I created my 'OO' Cream to be worn 'Over Oil' and act like an overall for your skin... I certainly wouldn't leave the house without it! This golden orange moisturiser is formulated with critical rosehip extract rich in essential fatty acid's, calming and protective argan oil and vitamin E to hydrate and nourish the skin and to replenish barrier function. The beta-glucan rich colloidal oatmeal forms a slightly mattifying, tissue fine barrier on the skins surface, which acts like a protective coat for your skin, fortifying your barrier function, locking in the nutrients from your skincare and preventing TEWL. Apply after your facial oil all over your face, neck and décolleté to keep skin smooth, protected, hydrated, healthy and radiant."

Jane Scrivner 'OO' Cream costs £27 for 50ml and is available from www.janescrivner.com, www.myshowcase.com and www.lovelula.com
