2024's biggest gifting wedding trends revealed with The Wedding Shop
Gifting Guru, Liza Baucher from The Wedding Shop, reveals the 2024 wedding gifting trends that are set to be huge next year.
According to The Wedding Shop's recent gifting survey, 99% of wedding guests will still give a gift in 2024 and the average price of a gift is higher. Which means, despite the cost of living - people are still spending more on wedding gifts.
Liza adds, "In an era of rising costs, it's inspiring to see wedding guests prioritise the joy of giving. The significance of being part of someone's special day hasn't diminished, in fact it has grown stronger! This commitment to celebrating milestones with meaningful gifts, despite inflation, shows a deep-rooted value we place on these occasions and the relationships they celebrate. In a time where 99% of wedding guests still feel compelled to give gifts, it's clear that special occasions hold a unique place in our hearts. Friends and family of engaged couples love going to weddings now more than ever, we are seeing the same for gift giving, it was on pause for so long - wedding guests want to celebrate bigger and gifting is part of that."
GROUP GIFTING IS ON THE RISE "This past year we have seen a delightful increase in group gifting for weddings, showing the warmth of togetherness. When friends and family unite to contribute towards a shared gift, it's more than just a smart move in tough economic times; it's a gesture of camaraderie. This trend beautifully illustrates that by coming together, we can make special occasions even more memorable, reinforcing our connections and creating cherished experiences for the celebrated couple."
VIRTUAL APPOINTMENTS & AI "Couples are embracing the digital age for their wedding gift lists. With The Wedding Shop, they are finding a world of convenience and engagement at their fingertips. With virtual appointments, selecting the perfect gifts becomes a seamless, personal experience, tailor-made for the modern couple. The integration of online thank-you managers revolutionises gratitude, making it simpler and more heartfelt. Guests appreciate the ease of faster payments, transforming the act of giving into a smooth, hassle-free process. Sharing the list is just a click away, ensuring that everyone can partake in the joy of giving, no matter the distance. And the gamified experience online adds a touch of fun and excitement, turning gift selection into an interactive adventure for both the couple and their guests. That being said, this year has seen our busiest year yet for in-person showroom appointments, which shows couples want the flexibility to build their lists online but also enjoy the showroom experience if they wish too."
PERSONAL TOUCHES "Wedding planning is an experience in itself, with lots of personal moments and unique journeys. Couples are seeking a deeper connection with their gift guru, desiring not just advice, but personal recommendations that resonate with their story and style. This bond transforms the process into a collaborative experience, where expert insights meet individual tastes. It's about creating a curated experience that's as memorable and meaningful as the wedding day itself, with each suggestion adding a layer of personal touch to their celebration. Couples love the convenience of personalised URLs to effortlessly share their wedding lists, with some even requesting QR codes. These personalised links make it simple for guests to view and contribute to their curated selections, merging modern technology with traditional celebration.

Just 7 percent of divorced Brits had a prenuptial agreement in place before separating, highlighting a significant gap between perception and reality. Regionally, attitudes vary. Manchester has emerged as the UK's 'prenup capital', with 13 percent of divorced couples having one in place, compared to 8 percent in London and 11 percent in Birmingham.
