In 2018, florist Karon Breckon decided to focus on weddings. Karon explains, "I'd been inspired when I attended a Wedding Business Retreat with Tallulah Rose Flower School down in Bath. I was completely smitten by the style and ethos of the teaching. I was also introduced to British flowers and a more sustainable way of creating flower designs. I love this style of floristry design. And so Meadows and Mulberry Weddings was born."During the intervening time, 2018 – 2021, Karon has learned her craft, taken part in workshops, created wedding flowers with British flowers at every opportunity as well as get involved in wedding shoots to further enhance her skill set, adopting a more eco-friendly method of creating flowers, avoiding single use plastic.Karon continues, "As a result of this drive to be a wedding florist, I've become busier and busier with weddings. And so this year the decision to close my flower shop in Sheffield made absolute sense and focus solely on my wedding couples."

What next?
"I now have the flexibility to be able to take on weddings throughout Yorkshire and the surrounding counties. Already I'm creating weddings in Northumberland, as well as north Yorkshire whilst my base is still in Sheffield. This will change at the end of 2022. I will be moving my business to north Yorkshire due to relocation. So 2022 has lots in store!" We wish Karon lots of luck with her venture. Weddings really is a lovely area to work in.

From best mates to distant relatives: Brits reveal the wedding gift hierarchy

How much should you spend on a wedding gift? It seems the answer depends on just how well you know the happy couple. The relationship came out ahead of travel and accommodation costs (38%) and paying for a hen or stag do (28%) when it comes to factors influencing how much guests are prepared to spend. For those closest to them, Brits consider an average of £77 per person to be an acceptable wedding gift. The most popular amount was between £50 and £100, selected by 43% of respondents, while 36% believe spending up to £50 is perfectly acceptable. Just 5% would spend more than £200.
