Simply Devine celebrate 18 years in business

The English Wedding Awards 2022 are back for the fifth year to celebrate the best in the wedding industry; from photographers and make-up artists to venues and celebrants. The well-loved event is set to be another memorable night for the industry after what has been an incredibly difficult year.

Simply Devine, an award-winning hat shop, has been privileged to win a prestige award on a number of occasions for its ever-expanding extensive special occasion headwear to include a bridal collection of hats, and wedding hatinators and fascinators for the modern woman.

Bride and mother of the bride

After 18 years (the shop opened on 21st February, 2014), specialising in mother of the bride/groom hats, owner Liz Devine-Wright has created her own collections and also moved into the wholesale space as a supplier to boutiques and bridal wear.
Her collection of bridal headwear are aimed at a modern, second time or mature brides who don't want a traditional veil and tiara. Her collection of pill box fascinators and larger hatinators feature shades of white, ivory, cream including the ever-popular almond and cream combo. In fact, each of Liz's designs can be ordered in any one of around 60 colours, to either match or co-ordinate with any shade of wedding or special occasion dress.

Covid-19 and lockdowns over the last couple of years have allowed the company time to develop and create a bespoke hat tag, thus allowing Simply Devine hat designs to be sold online on worldwide platforms.
Simply Devine hats have been worn at events as far away as the USA and Australia, and also at Buckingham Palace garden parties and Royal Ascot. Liz elaborates, "As a retailer, I have always loved dressing mothers of the bride or groom for their special day, so when it came to designing my own pieces, I was able to use the knowledge to create headwear which I know will make the wearer look amazing."
"Simply Devine has won the Wedding Accessories Supplier of the Year for the two years in succession, so to win this prestigious award on our 18th birthday would be truly amazing. Third time lucky!"

Experts Warn Against Using AI for Wedding Vows

With peak wedding season approaching, experts are warning couples not to rely on AI to write one of the most personal parts of their big day – their vows. A survey by jewellers Queensmith has revealed that more than half (55%) of UK brides and grooms are now using AI tools to help write their wedding vows and speeches, raising questions about authenticity, originality and even potential legal grey areas. The findings come amid a growing debate around AI-written vows after a registrar in the eastern Netherlands saw a marriage called into question when AI was used to help write the ceremony script. In the case, the District Court of Overijssel ruled that "no marriage has been established" after it emerged the registrar had relied on ChatGPT to draft parts of the ceremony. The case has sparked wider concerns that AI-generated wording could unintentionally mirror existing vows or scripts found online, raising questions about originality and authenticity.
