Tell us about your business...
Tweedle Floral Design (@Tweedlefloraldesign) consists of a partnership, Erika McManus & Samantha Taylor. Our small floristry business and home-based workshop is based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, although we do travel and provide our services further afield for larger wedding and event floristry. We choose to work with more sustainable methods of floristry and use foam-free mechanics in all our work.

What's your background and why did you launch your business?
We took a full education into floristry at the Tallulah Rose Flower School back in 2019. Prior to this, we had known each other for a long time and knew we work incredibly well together. Through a love of our own gardens and watching the seasons change through flowers and nature, we decided to take this passion with our joint creative flair and share it with others.

What's your favourite type of wedding to work on?
As cliche as it sounds, we really don't have a favourite type of wedding! We always value each and every booking we get because of the individuality of the couple. It just shows us how everyone can be so different in their floral visions for their day and we just love to make that a reality for them – no matter the colour palette, themes or inspiration behind it.

What's your top tip for couples choosing their wedding flowers?
Think about seasonality. If you have particular flowers you are set upon having, then let your florist know so they can let you know if they will be available to use them for your big day. Equally if they are not, then your florist will have the knowledge and tools to provide alternatives that will deliver the same impact.

Have you diversified in the pandemic?
The pandemic has confirmed to us that the power of flowers is huge. We wouldn't normally have such a big focus on gift bouquets, but we have found that when family members could not be with one another for special occasions then we could provide that missing link through doorstep delivery flowers. The feedback has been wonderful and it has also given us a boost in being known around our local community.

One in seven couples choose sleep over sex on their wedding night

As the UK's spring and summer wedding season begins, new research by Mattress Online suggests the traditional idea of a passion-filled wedding night doesn't always match reality, with one in six couples (15%) saying they did not have sex after their big day. To understand why, the bed experts also asked survey respondents what their reasoning was behind this. They also provided additional insight on the idea of the "wedding night" from Relationship Expert, Jenni Trent Hughes. The findings show that exhaustion was by far the most common factor, with more than two in five (44%) of couples saying they were simply too tired after the celebrations. As weddings often involve early starts, long days, emotional highs, and late nights, rest is a more realistic priority than romance once newlyweds are in bed.
