Jade and Chris put their own stamp on their blank canvas venue.

Jade and Chris Leigh first met while on a night out in Halifax. “We had a classic first date at the cinema, and the rest is history,” remembers Jade. Fast-forward three years and the couple were on holiday on the stunning island of Santorini. “We found a spot to watch the sunset with views of the island behind us,” says the bride. “When Chris got down on one knee fireworks went off! Of course I said 'Yes' – it was an amazing moment.” Upon returning home, the happy couple set the date for 15th April, 2017 and opted for a church ceremony at All Saints Church in Wighill, followed by a reception at Priory Cottages in Wetherby.

Here, the bride tells us more about their day, which had a grey and lilac colour scheme…

We chose Priory Cottages because of its stunning location. The barn and marquee provided a blank canvas on which we could really make our mark. There was lots of accommodation too, which was important to us as we wanted to make a weekend of it with our family and friends.

Lovely lilac: Image 2One of my favourite elements of the day was the cake table. The Pretty Sugar Cake Company provided us with a gorgeous ruffled grey cake, surrounded by cake pops and cupcakes all with vintage-style lace, pearl and floral decoration.

Lovely lilac: Image 2b My gown was a lace low-back number from Brides to Be. I found the one on my one and only day of dress shopping. The ladies in the boutique were so helpful and made it such an enjoyable experience. After ordering it, mum and I went to the pub for some bubbly! On the day, I accessorised it with sparkly Jimmy Choo shoes and Swarovski earrings.

We kept the décor quite simple, using our colour palette accented with wooden and hessian touches. My mum decorated hundreds of jars for the centrepieces and we hung pretty paper lanterns from the ceiling.

Lovely lilac: Image 4Our favours were personalised wooden coasters from Dust and Things, which also doubled up as name cards. They were a real hit and lots of our loved ones have them in their homes now.

Lovely lilac: Image 4b We had a brilliant acoustic duo during the reception, followed by a DJ and saxophonist in the evening. They were all fantastic and really got the party started.

The boys were suited and booted in grey tweed suits and bow ties. I didn't see Chris' outfit until the day – and I wasn't disappointed. My best girls wore flowing lilac gowns from Monsoon.

Lovely lilac: Image 6The biggest hit of the night was when the best man Jack performed a rap just after the first dance – it was hilarious. He really put his own spin on the best man's speech!

Lovely lilac: Image 6b The whole day was fantastic – truly one to remember. We couldn't have done it without the staff at the venue. They went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly.

Our photographer Hayley Baxter was awesome. She completely blended in to the day, helped behind the scenes, and captured all the important memories we might've missed. We're thrilled to have such beautiful images to treasure.

We left for our honeymoon the day after the wedding and soaked up the sun in Dubai and Thailand. It was the perfect way to celebrate.
