Jade and Chris Leigh first met while on a night out in Halifax. “We had a classic first date at the cinema, and the rest is history,” remembers Jade. Fast-forward three years and the couple were on holiday on the stunning island of Santorini. “We found a spot to watch the sunset with views of the island behind us,” says the bride. “When Chris got down on one knee fireworks went off! Of course I said 'Yes' – it was an amazing moment.” Upon returning home, the happy couple set the date for 15th April, 2017 and opted for a church ceremony at All Saints Church in Wighill, followed by a reception at Priory Cottages in Wetherby.
Here, the bride tells us more about their day, which had a grey and lilac colour scheme…
One of my favourite elements of the day was the cake table. The Pretty Sugar Cake Company provided us with a gorgeous ruffled grey cake, surrounded by cake pops and cupcakes all with vintage-style lace, pearl and floral decoration.
My gown was a lace low-back number from Brides to Be. I found the one on my one and only day of dress shopping. The ladies in the boutique were so helpful and made it such an enjoyable experience. After ordering it, mum and I went to the pub for some bubbly! On the day, I accessorised it with sparkly Jimmy Choo shoes and Swarovski earrings.
Our favours were personalised wooden coasters from Dust and Things, which also doubled up as name cards. They were a real hit and lots of our loved ones have them in their homes now.
We had a brilliant acoustic duo during the reception, followed by a DJ and saxophonist in the evening. They were all fantastic and really got the party started.
The biggest hit of the night was when the best man Jack performed a rap just after the first dance – it was hilarious. He really put his own spin on the best man's speech!
The whole day was fantastic – truly one to remember. We couldn't have done it without the staff at the venue. They went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly.
