We loved Gibson Mill at Hardcastle crags as it's simple, natural and had no frills. It has heaps of character and the charm is off the grid. We felt happy that our money was going towards the National Trust.

Seal of approval: Image 2aI tried on three or four dresses before I found the one. I wanted something classic and timeless and also really wanted a British designer. Vivienne Westwood is the epitome of an iconic, strong British female.

Seal of approval: Image 2 Pete wore his RAF uniform and his ushers wore the same. The 'sword party ' looked fantastic.

Our guests enjoyed a picnic of Yorkshire pork pies and cheese from Hinchliffe's farm, Scotch Eggs from Bears Pantry, and they all got hooked on the truffle honey.

Seal of approval: Image 4aMy hair and make-up artist, Sam Collins was super professional, she delivered the brief perfectly and understood that I didn't want to wear much make-up. I wanted a wavy hair do and she found a picture of Isla Fisher with the perfect style, so she copied that.

Seal of approval: Image 4 I wore the Sally veil from Rime Arodaky. I liked the white roses and thought it was a nice nod to my husband's heritage.

I had eight bridesmaids who wore Reformation dresses in different styles but the same colour.

Seal of approval: Image 6aWe hired vintage buses to take us from the mill to Pete's parents' house. It was brilliant as we had a quiz and drank Pimm's en route.

Seal of approval: Image 6 We hired the New York Brass Band for entertainment. We'd seen them at Glastonbury a couple of years before and they're so much fun. They got everyone dancing and did a little parade through the woods and on the walk to the car park.

Our photographer Chris Milner and Andy Little our videographer were both brilliant and easy going. They were so discreet we barely noticed they were there.

Seal of approval: Image 8aWe absolutely loved our cake. My mum has made it for my siblings and I every birthday for as long as I can remember. My grandma made it for us too so just oozes lovely memories. My parents had recently had to cut down a big oak tree in the front garden of our family home and I asked my dad to slice it up to make the cake stand.

Seal of approval: Image 8 We had a beautiful flower arch at the mill made with lots of ivy, white roses and hydrangeas. We decorated the roof with paper aeroplane garlands.

I booked owls and kestrels from a rescue centre as a nice surprise for Pete.
