Spring its all about new life with trees s blossoming, daffodils flowering and young wildlife coming into the world. So, it’s a fitting time of year for a wedding as two people who’ve found love prepare to begin their own new life together. As we emerge from the long winter months, springtime nuptials make the perfect celebration, bringing everyone out of hiding! Everything about this time of year just feels joyous from the light, fresh flavours in food, to the oh-so beautiful flower varieties that come into bloom plus the lighter nights and warmer weather.
When anyone tries to tell me that pastel palettes are out for weddings, I’m afraid I have to stick my fingers in my ears – la, la, la! Wildflower-inspired themes have made their way into my heart over the last couple of years and I for one refuse to see them fall out of fashion! Vibrant hues are all very well and good in any other season, but what could be more complementary in the spring than a glorious garden inspired palette of pink, Peach Fuzz, lavender, sage and lemon? Be still my beating heart! There are a myriad of ways to bring these shades bang up to date: just picture an ombre of fresh yellows with zingy citrus, lemon and mustard complete with Mediterranean vibes. Sunny and oh-so stylish.
Page 41’s styled shoot team set out to capture this magical time of year at the change of the seasons with this stunning project. Fresh and clean you can almost smell spring in the air. It’s also well worth turning to our annual jewellery and accessories feature if you’re in search of inspiration as a whole host of local businesses have shared some stunning pieces to feast your eyes on.

Sedgewell Barn
Sedgewell Barn is set among 60 acres of rolling countryside in the heart of rural North Yorkshire. This relaxed, family-run wedding venue offers two stunning barns with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside, as well as deluxe glamping pods and a luxury wedding suite on site. A blank canvas venue it gives you the flexibility to theme your wedding as you wish, spending as little or as much on the things that matter most to you.
There are two interlinked barns here: the Rustic Barn with its romantic character, and the Celebration Barn, which is more contemporary in style with enviable views over the Yorkshire Dales. You’ll also find an outdoor seating area, the Byre welcome area and several stunning backdrops for those all-important photographs.
This fabulous venue also includes accommodation with 11 glamping pods, all with private hot tubs, en-suite shower room and kitchen; and The Nest, a luxury country cottage also with private hot tub. The team will turn the latter into a romantic honeymoon suite for the two of you during the day, while you're busy celebrating.
Sedgewell Barn is licensed to hold civil ceremonies with two ceremony rooms to choose from depending on guest numbers, as well as the outdoor courtyard and terrace area. The Rustic Barn (100 guests) has maintained many of its original features including traditional oak beams, which have been adorned with fairylights and changeable coloured uplighters. There’s a mezzanine level too, ideal for photographers and videographers to capture those perfect shots at key moments. Later, the space can be turned into a cosy, relaxed seating area for the evening.
The Celebration Barn (150 guests) is the much larger of the two spaces for ceremony, dining and evening entertainment, decorated throughout with festoon lights and white drapes. More contemporary in style it has a terraced area accessed by sliding doors and offering breathtaking views of the Yorkshire Dales. At one end of the Barn is a fully-stocked bar serving a personalised drinks package and cocktail menu, as well as a stage for the evening entertainment. Moveable room dividers can separate the dining area from dancefloor creating a more intimate space.

The wedding season is just around the corner! What is normally a cause for joy can often become a financial strain for guests. Travel, outfits, gifts – the costs can quickly soar to unexpected heights. This is also confirmed by a recent survey by Klarna*, the flexible choice for smart, secure payments: One third (36.4%) of those surveyed said they had declined wedding invitations in the past due to associated costs. Moreover, 30.2% of respondents said they have not attended a Stag or Hen party due to the expenses involved.
