Does anyone else feel like they’ve been on a rollercoaster ride over the past year? From lockdowns and restrictions to WFH and Zoom calls – these are all things we have learned to adapt to. Throw wedding planning into the mix, and it’s incredible that we’ve made it through!
What has been a silver lining for me in these utterly bonkers times is seeing how the Yorkshire wedding industry has taken everything the pandemic has thrown at it in its stride. Tales of companies diversifying, volunteering and sending homemade presents to their couples have put such a smile on my face and make me proud to support our local wedding superstars. If you want to sing from the rooftops about how wonderful your big-day suppliers have been throughout date changes, postponements and last-minute micro-weddings, then we’d love to hear from you.

Holiday Inn Leeds Bradford
Found in the quaint village of Tong, this fabulous venue is set between the two city locations of Leeds and Bradford. The ivy-clad former vicarage is suitable for small gatherings to grand affairs, with the breathtaking gardens and surrounding countryside providing a spectacular big-day backdrop. The contemporary interiors of the hotel and stunning marquee in the grounds provide the perfect wedding locations.
The all-important vows take place in one of its newly refurbished spaces. Couples can then choose to host their post-vow party in one of the function suites, the largest being the Bentley Suite (220 guests), which boasts colour-changing lighting to suit any theme. The Courtyard Suite (100 guests) overlooks the gardens and has its own stone patio area for al fresco drinks receptions. The new Grand Marquee is a modern, temporary structure providing a blank canvas for couples to create their dream wedding. Accommodating up to 500 guests alongside the Courtyard Suite, it’s ideal for large celebrations.

We caught up with the lovely Katherine Armstrong Bisson of Yorkshire florist Fleur Adamo to find out how she's been helping to-be-weds throughout the coronavirus pandemic. "Getting married in these difficult times continues to be a rollercoaster," Katherine says. "Finding understanding suppliers is a huge part of keeping your emotions (and finances!) together. Since last spring I have shared frustration and tears with my couples, but also a huge sense of satisfaction when intimate weddings go ahead."
