January/February 2021

January/February 2021

Well, 2020 was a year we won’t forget in a hurry! I know we’re not out of the woods, but I feel like as we wake up to a new year, blinking into the January light, there’s renewed hope and excitement for the future. I bought myself two new outfits for weddings I had in the diary last year, which have been left hanging in the wardrobe, and I’m quietly confident I’ll get to pull them out in 2021!

So how are you finding wedding planning during a pandemic? I know it’s been a tough ride, but I hope the fact that Your Yorkshire Wedding has been here, celebrating the best of the local wedding industry, has helped. We will always bang the drum for local indie businesses; they’ve weathered the storm and supported their couples throughout, now’s the time to support them in return.

For those of you who are newly engaged over the festive period and Valentine’s Day – congratulations and welcome! We’ve got an epic issue for you, including expert advice for those whose plans have changed dramatically (page 51), a round-up of beautiful venues in and around Leeds and Bradford (page 21) and an introduction to the people behind the area’s best bridal boutiques (page 64). We love to showcase reader weddings (from page 26), so get in touch if you’d like to see yours featured!

Holiday Inn Leeds Bradford

Set in the quaint village of Tong, in an ivy-clad former vicarage, is this fabulous wedding venue. Suitable for small gatherings to grand affairs, the breathtaking gardens and surrounding countryside provide a spectacular big-day backdrop.

The all-important vows take place in one of its newly refurbished spaces. Couples can then choose to host their post-vow party in one of the function suites, the largest being the Bentley Suite (220 guests), which boasts colour-changing lighting to suit any theme. The Courtyard Suite (100 guests) overlooks the gardens and has its own stone patio area for al fresco drinks receptions.

The new Grand Marquee is a modern, temporary structure providing a black canvas for couples to create their dream wedding. Accommodating up to 500 guests alongside the Courtyard Suite, it’s perfect for large celebrations.
