September/October 2021

As I write this, we are two weeks clear of Freedom Day: July the 19th – I think this date is now etched in our memories forever more. Yes, it was wonderful to finally be able to hug, see friends and family, go to a restaurant with more than a carefully selected group of six loved ones; but for me, the most important thing: weddings were back! For 18 months I watched as an industry I loved – and have worked in for 18 years – was brought to a grinding halt, and without dwelling too much on it now we’re through the other side, it was an emotional roller-coaster for all involved.

Now, we can look to the future, and go back to the excitement of what it means to plan and attend weddings: get those dancing shoes out, brush off those dance moves and get ready to p.a.r.t.y on that wedding dancefloor like you’ve never partied before.

This issue feels like a true celebration of local venues and suppliers, we have a host of hotels over on page 15, a fab selection of local handmade items over on page 57 and there’s a bunch of talented suppliers helping you look your big-day best on page 79!

Also check out our gorgeous real weddings this issue, honestly, I can never choose a favourite, they’re over on pages 29, 34 and 41.

Manor House Lindley

A hidden gem set back from the bustling up-and-coming high street of Lindley, the grounds at Manor House Lindley are beautifully landscaped and contain period features such as elegant fountains, leafy trees and a perfect view of the famous Lindley Clock Tower. The dramatic sweeping drive leading up to the manor’s forecourt is perfect for making a memorable entrance on the big day.

The dramatic façade of Manor House emphasises its heritage, with beautiful sand-coloured stone and imposing columns around the front door. Large and airy windows give a glimpse of the tasteful interior design within. To one side, a sunny terrace entices and between buildings a beautiful courtyard gives a distinctly Roman feel.

What really separates Manor House from other Georgian manors is the interior. Painstakingly thought out and masterfully executed, the design stems from the Far East mixed with contemporary touches to give a feeling of absolute high-end luxury throughout.

The pièce de résistance is The Coach House, the designated wedding space, where vaulted ceilings and stained glass mixed with an opulent bar area and carved panelling can host a dream wedding of up to 150 guest (200 for an evening celebration).

The Lantern Room (40) is a feast for the senses with a beautiful floral ceiling and dazzling décor, it has large bay windows letting in light and bare brick walls, this space allows for a smaller intimate ceremony.

Lindley Cellars (40) offers an alternative ceremony style, channelling the prohibition era of dark and intriguing dens hidden from plain sight.

Finally,The Lounge (8) is for the most intimate of weddings, small and perfectly formed for your privacy, with a balcony to the sunshine and incredible Geisha art on display.

Couples benefit from various packages, options may include free overnight accommodation for the wedding couple and free menu tasting once the initial deposit has been paid.
