November/December 2020

As we move towards the end of 2020, and start looking forward to next year, I’m so excited for the 2021 weddings I’m attending, as well as the postponed events I have from last year. Being a wedding editor, it probably comes as no surprise that weddings absolutely fill me with joy, so seeing friends and family having to put a halt to celebrations last year was hard – but it does mean we get a bumper 2021 season!

Whether you’ve had to postpone or you’ve always planned to get married in 2021 or beyond, these pages are jam-packed with inspiration to get your day exactly how you want it. In recent months we’ve all come to realise that celebrations with our loved ones are precious, and it’s with renewed love for life that we look forward to this happening again.

With the colder days, it’s time to get snuggled up on the sofa with a cuppa and your favourite wedding magazine (ahem!) and get planning the day of your dreams. We’ve got entertainment acts to knock your socks off (page 49), incredible big-day photography (page 43) and a round up of the best of Yorkshire venues (page 15). Enjoy!

Spicer Manor

Bordering the beautiful Peak District and set among open fields edged with Yorkshire-stone walls, Spicer Manor and its romantic Coach House provide a rural idyll with lawned gardens to the front and rear. The exclusive-use venue allows couples to get married and stay on-site in the 15 en suite rooms.

Rebuilt in 2019 from Yorkshire stone, Spicer Manor resembles a traditional manor house, but inside attention has been paid to every detail with all mod cons including a state-of-the-art cinema, hot tubs and SONOS music system. Charming stone and oak features and the centrepiece sweeping staircase with drop lighting create a luxurious yet homely feel.

Couples can say “I do” in the Grand Hall (50 guests), with either the grand staircase or large fireplace as the backdrop. This would be followed by a meal in the Orangery before partying in the manor. Larger groups would opt for the spacious Coach House (160 guests), with its beautifully rustic features. When celebrating here, many couples opt to use the manor as a relaxing haven for their residential guests.

Dreams come true at new Whitby wedding venue Sneaton Castle

Whitby has seen the launch of a stunning new wedding venue in 2020 – Sneaton Castle. After being home to the Sisters of the Holy Paraclete for more than 100 years, the Morley family, who also own The Stables at Cross Butts venue nearby, fell in love with the building when it came up for sale and saw its potential for a truly enchanting wedding location. The lovingly-restored building is now transformed for exclusive weddings, seamlessly blending period features with everything a modern couple could need.
