It’s coming up to three years since hubby and I got married – I cannot get my head around that fact! However, some parts of the planning still seem like yesterday – the stress, the sleepless nights and the debates (ahem) about who can and can’t sit next to each other. What overrides all of that though is the total euphoria of the day. There really isn’t a feeling like it, which is why we’re here to offer the best expert advice from Yorkshire professionals to help you enjoy the organising almost as much as the wedding itself.

Crathorne Hall Hotel
Crathorne Hall is a stunning stately home located close to Yarm on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors. Surrounded by 15 acres of peaceful woodland overlooking the Leven valley, this historic home was completed in 1906, making it the largest country house to be built during the reign of Edward VII. Its tower bells and exquisite stonemasonry showcases its grandeur.
The interior has been sympathetically restored with a mix of old and contemporary furnishings and boasts high ceilings, tall windows, brass chandeliers and feature fireplaces. Visitors here are walking in the footsteps of prime ministers and royalty, as well as actors and musicians.
Couples can tie the knot in two spaces. The Presidents Lounge (30 guests) is ideal for intimate gatherings with its first-floor location and Juliet balcony offering far-reaching views. The Edwardian Room (100 guests) is a bigger option boasting beautiful original features.
Post-vow celebrations can take place in The Drawing Room. Its traditional country house feel is complemented in summer by French doors opening out on to the lawn, or roaring log fires during the winter. Smaller receptions are held in the Edwardian Room.
Happy couples booking exclusive use of the venue receive a free menu tasting, and accommodation in the bridal suite is included in all full-day packages. Preferential rates are offered for anniversary stays with complimentary upgrades given where possible.
