Set to open in October 2015, L'Amandier is a boutique retreat located just south of Marrakech.
Set atop a plateau at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, this exquisite hotel enjoys 360 degree views over the surrounding Toubkal National Park, olive groves and stunning gardens. It will open initially with just six suites, all of which will enjoy their own terrace and uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape and the Ouirgane Lake in the distance. Two luxurious, private rooftop penthouses will follow in 2016.
Set within 12 acres of citrus groves, almond trees and bougainvillea, the property has been designed by UK architect, Nick Gowing, to ensure that the beauty of the surrounding landscape is incorporated into the living and communal areas at every opportunity through capacious glass windows, generous terraces and graceful interior design by Michael Kopinski.
L'Amandier's special touches include a traditional bread oven that will entice visitors with its daily batches of fresh bread, a 'bed menu' that will invite guests to select the firmness of their mattress or the number and composition of their pillows and a culinary academy giving diners the chance to enjoy dishes from leading chefs of the future.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served al fresco on the hotel's majestic elevated terrace with additional seating also available in the interior 50 cover restaurant featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and a theatre-style open kitchen. Every dish will comprise fresh, local and predominantly organic ingredients assembled by the international standard head chef. Menus will be modern European with contemporary Moroccan accents inspired by the surrounding villages and communities.
The Ouirgane Valley itself remains a relatively undiscovered haven for lovers of dramatic landscapes and adventure with an appreciation of the finest things in life. Beyond the region's remarkable natural beauty and spell-binding landscapes, it offers to visitors a myriad of activities including hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, skiing, climbing, swimming, fishing, kayaking, jet skiing, bird watching, water skiing, fly boarding and wake boarding. All of these activities can be arranged on request by the hotel's concierge and private on-site guide and are within an hour of the hotel.
