Editor's letter
I’m so excited to be taking over the reins here at Your Yorkshire Wedding magazine. I got married in summer, 2016 – I can’t believe how time flies – and now I get to continue my wedding love affair with you all.
Our day was wonderful; the glorious sunshine was matched by our very bright, tropical colour scheme. Although we started planning a very informal, chilled-out day it soon got out of hand and I wish we’d had some expert advice like we have in our Hot Topic feature on page 90.
Although we got married less than two years ago it doesn’t stop me from looking through our fabulous Real Weddings, starting on page 32, and asking myself, ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’ Maybe we’ll have to plan a vow renewal to incorporate all these new ideas – better get saving!
For me, the best weddings are a true reflection of the bride and groom. Whether you’re an outdoorsy couple ready to pull your wellies on for a country garden vibe or, if getting hitched in one of the region’s extravagant stately homes is more your style, then you’ll find endless inspiration on these pages.
I can’t wait to share your journey, and when you wake up in the middle of the night in a pre-wedding panic just remember, it’ll all be worth it in the end! |

The Majestic Hotel
Nestled in eight acres of landscaped gardens, which overlook the spa town of Harrogate, sits The Majestic. Affectionately known as the jewel in Harrogate’s crown, this wonderful red-brick property dates back to 1899 and stands proud in all its vintage grandeur. Inside, the four-star hotel is brimming with Victorian architectural features complemented with modern fixtures. The sweeping staircase offers a wonderful backdrop for images.
Weddings take place in two spaces. The Carriage Suite is the largest function room and can host up to 500 evening guests. The light-filled room is a perfect blank canvas on which couples can create their own day, surrounded by stone archways and pillars. It also benefits from outside access and a private bar. The Drawing Room is a more traditional setting, with high vaulted ceilings and simple elegant colours.
All couples will receive a free menu tasting, wedding-night accommodation and a discounted rate for their first-anniversary stay.
